U10 Program Summary

U10 athletes can participate in early season training, weekend training at Gunstock, weeknight training at Gunstock. Athletes are grouped differently every weekend and spend  time with all coaches through out the season.

Gates? We love um...they are a ton of fun!
We aggressively pursue gate time for younger athletes compared to peer mountains. However, more gates does NOT make you faster in the long run. Gate time is primarily a tool to keep athletes excited and engaged in a competitive environment. We use Nastar passes to gain regular access to gates. U10's can run gates during mid-week training.

Individual athletes will not "ski up" across age groups. Groups within age classes will all be working on the same theme and activities. Advanced groups within an age class will utilize a more aggressive progression tailored to challenge the group.

SkillsQuest

SkillsQuest is a cornerstone program of the Alpine Training System (ATS) designed to motivate and reward athletes in working toward and improving abilities in the key areas of emphasis of the ATS. As its name implies, it represents a quest, or journey, toward success in ski racing, by focusing on skills, the critical components that make up a high performing ski racer. It includes activities and competencies for skiing skills, technique and tactics, conditioning, equipment preparation, performance psychology and racer management.

You can learn more about SkillsQuest on the USSA website.

As we move into the year we'll post updates on how SkillsQuest fits into the GSC Ski-losophy. In the meantime you can read up on SkillsQuest here.
