Gus Pitou GS

The Gus Pitou Memorial race is held annually in memory of Gus Pitou, Gilford resident and Olympian Penny Pitou's father. Gus Pitou contributed greatly to the growth of junior skiing in the Lakes Region in the 1950's and 1960s. Although he loved to ski himself, his passion was teaching young children the sport. The first Gus Pitou Memorial Giant Slalom was held in 1966, the year after his death.
