Introductions- Who makes up J-3 group

         coaches

Athletes-13/14 year olds

1st years…no more BWL! Competition is mostly statewide. Qualifying for events is more selective. Also, there is less “hand holding” by coaches. You begin to learn how to organize and take “ownership” of your own training and racing.

2nd years- you guys know the deal. Also, need to think of next year j-2’s. Equipment restrictions/ Lafoley entries.

Club- GSC is our club, support system.

Parents- see below for your roles/expectations

3.What we do and our approach

- Training and preparation for competition. Skiing skills improvement. Total athlete development.

We will have a more complete “training/race overview meeting early in the season.

We take total group approach to coaching where the athletes will work with all the coaches at one time or another. We make an extra effort to communicate among ourselves on the athlete development in order to keep a consistent focus for the athlete.

  1. How things go

Everyone has a role to make this work.

-Coaches we provide the athletes with the information, feedback, review and encouragement to succeed. We track progress and communicate regularly with the athletes.

-Athletes. Think about your goals, fill out goal sheet. Keep yourself informed and involved in the program we provide you and your own training. Be ready to train/ race. Be on time. Know where and when you are supposed to be. Understand what you are working on, trying to achieve and ask questions if you don’t. Be good teammates and supportive of your fellow athletes.

-Parents. Keep informed . Follow e-mails and info. Let the coaches “coach” Get your athletes to training/races in plenty of time. (help them understand THEY need to be prepared also). Help out with the club. Write checks.

* Please address any concerns or challenges you may have about the progam or training to me(D. R.) as the lead of the J-3 program. (I expect no contact in this regard as all will go fine!)
